How we choose naming / namkaran dates
A muhurat is an electional (Muhurta) choice — picking a moment when the sky favours your undertaking. For naming / namkaran we score each upcoming day on three classical factors: the nakshatra (the lunar mansion traditionally auspicious for this work), the tithi (Shubha tithis favoured; the Rikta tithis 4, 9 and 14 and Amavasya avoided), and the weekday. Every value is computed from the real position of the Moon — nothing is invented.
Frequently asked questions
- What are the auspicious naming / namkaran muhurat dates coming up?
- The next strong muhurat dates are: 11 Nov 2026 (Wednesday, Excellent); 16 Nov 2026 (Monday, Excellent); 26 Nov 2026 (Thursday, Excellent); 4 Dec 2026 (Friday, Excellent); 14 Dec 2026 (Monday, Excellent); 16 Dec 2026 (Wednesday, Excellent). Each is chosen by the day's nakshatra, tithi and weekday.
- How are these muhurat dates chosen?
- Each day is scored against the classical electional (Muhurta) rules: the lunar mansion (nakshatra) traditionally favourable for this activity, an auspicious tithi (Rikta tithis 4/9/14 and Amavasya are avoided), and a favourable weekday. The score combines all three, computed from the real position of the Moon — not guessed.
- Do these dates work for my city?
- The dates hold across India because the tithi, nakshatra and weekday are nearly identical nationwide on a given day. Only the precise daily window (Abhijit Muhurat) shifts with your local sunrise — open your city's Panchang for that exact time.
- What is the safest time within an auspicious day?
- Abhijit Muhurat — the short window around solar noon — is considered universally auspicious for almost any beginning (except, by tradition, on Wednesdays). We show it for the best dates above.
