What is a Western birth chart?
A birth chart (or natal chart) is a snapshot of the sky for the exact moment and place you were born. It plots all ten planets — the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto — in their zodiac signs and houses, along with the four angles and the aspects between them. At its heart sit the Big Three: your Sun (core identity), your Moon (inner emotional world) and your Rising sign, the Ascendant that was climbing over the eastern horizon as you arrived.
Because the Ascendant moves about a degree every four minutes, an accurate birth time and place are what turn a generic Sun-sign reading into a chart that is genuinely yours — which is exactly what the tool above asks for.
How Astronaad computes your chart
Astronaad doesn’t guess your signs or hand them to an AI. Every planet is placed from a real astronomical ephemeris in tropical of-date longitude, the Ascendant and Midheaven are derived from your local sidereal time and the obliquity of the ecliptic, and whole-sign houses are applied — the same validated engine used across our chart services. We checked it against published charts (Barack Obama resolves to Leo Sun, Gemini Moon and Aquarius Rising). The artificial intelligence only writes the plain-language interpretation of figures the ephemeris already produced, in any of 24 languages.

- A Saturn Return is the moment transiting Saturn comes back to the exact position it held at your birth, roughly every 29.5 years — classically a time of maturing, responsibility and life review. - How is a Western natal chart different from a Vedic Kundli?
- Both read the same sky, but with different conventions. The Western natal chart uses the tropical zodiac (tied to the seasons and the equinox) and is oriented around the Sun, Moon and Rising and psychological themes.
