Today’s Sun in Makassar
The Sun rises in Makassar at 05:37 AM and sets at 05:54 PM today, with solar noon — the Sun’s highest point — at 11:45 AM. That makes the day 12h 17m long and the night 11h 43m. Because these are computed from the Sun’s real position for Makassar’s exact latitude and longitude, they are accurate to the minute — and they shift a little each day with the seasons.
Why sunrise matters in the Panchang
In Vedic timekeeping, the day begins at sunrise, not midnight — so the exact sunrise sets the reference for the whole Panchang: the tithi and nakshatra of the day, and the inauspicious windows like Rahu Kaal and the auspicious Abhijit Muhurat, which are measured as slices between sunrise and sunset. Get the sunrise wrong and every one of those is wrong too.
